Information on Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD)
Foot-and-mouth disease is a serious animal disease that affects only cloven-hoofed animals such as cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, red deer, fallow deer, mouflon, and ibex. It is not dangerous to humans, but humans can transmit the disease to animals.
Currently, there are no confirmed cases in Austria, so the risk to our animals remains low. However, in order to continue protecting our beloved animals, the following safety rules must be observed:
* Supervised feeding in the petting barn (on Saturdays, Sundays & public holidays) is currently not permitted.
* DO NOT touch or pet any animals.
* Food brought from home (snacks, etc.) is STRICTLY PROHIBITED in the wildlife park. This also applies to food in strollers or backpacks.
* Feeding animals with brought-in food or snacks – strictly forbidden!
FMD is always fatal for infected animals. We kindly ask you to strictly follow the rules mentioned above and thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
