Information on Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD)

Foot-and-mouth disease is a serious animal disease that affects only cloven-hoofed animals such as cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, red deer, fallow deer, mouflon, and ibex. It is not dangerous to humans, but humans can transmit the disease to animals.

Currently, there are no confirmed cases in Austria, so the risk to our animals remains low. However, in order to continue protecting our beloved animals, the following safety rules must be observed:

* Supervised feeding in the petting barn (on Saturdays, Sundays & public holidays) is currently not permitted.
* DO NOT touch or pet any animals.
* Food brought from home (snacks, etc.) is STRICTLY PROHIBITED in the wildlife park. This also applies to food in strollers or backpacks.
* Feeding animals with brought-in food or snacks – strictly forbidden!

FMD is always fatal for infected animals. We kindly ask you to strictly follow the rules mentioned above and thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Easter at our Wildlifepark

The Wildpark Aurach and the Restaurant Branderhofstube will be open daily from April 14 to April 21, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM during the Easter holidays.

Our Wildpark Easter Bunny, 'Stubsi,' is already looking forward to seeing you and will be handing out lots of colorful Easter eggs on Palm Sunday, Easter Sunday, and Easter Monday from 11:30 AM onwards.

The Branderhofstube offers a selection of local delicacies and places great importance on fresh, regional products. After a walk through the Wildpark Aurach, you can enjoy a culinary treat from our team.

Our Restaurant features a sun terrace with a panoramic view of the Kitzbühel Alps and a small playground for children. It can also be visited without a Wildpark entrance ticket!

Saying good bye

Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to our female lynx at the beginning of the week. She reached the proud age of 19 and lived together with her two siblings, who had already passed away last year. All three were born here in 2006 and spent their entire lives with us at Wildpark Aurach.

Moments like these are, of course, very emotional for us, as our three lynxes had wonderful characters and were very gentle-natured. Some renovation work will now be carried out in the lynx enclosure, and starting in May, we will be welcoming a new pair.

Owl wedding at the Wildpark Aurach

A few weeks ago we welcomed our 2nd Sibirian eagle owl 'Antares' to our Wildpark.

Our eagly owl lady 'Lotti' was really nosy about her new 'husband' and we are hopping for little ones next year :)

Mufflon Schafe

In September, new female mouflon sheep have arrived at our Wildpark. Our male mouflons were really happy to see new ladies in the park.

Well done Janine!

Our employee Janine successfully passed her final exam as a zookeeper with distinction last week. After her studies in Innsbruck, she decided to pursue her apprenticeship through a second-chance education program while working. We are very proud and extend our heartfelt congratulations 💞💞💞

#LocalHeroes

"#LocalHeroes" is a wonderful series that showcases the unique people and places in Kitzbühel and the surrounding hiking villages of Reith, Aurach, and Jochberg. It’s not just the people who make Kitzbühel special; places like the wildlife park in Aurach are also “personalities” that take the spotlight in our “LocalHeroes” series.
